Married with three boys. Ran the Odgen Marathon in honor of my mother, a marathoner, who passed away from cancer and it just had continued from there. Grew up in a running family and have fallen in love with running, especially on trails.

Long day at work today, didn't have much time this morning. Almost went back to sleep but changed and at least went out for a little. Im sure the possible 10 pounds I put on after pigging out for easter weekend motivated me out the door. I was hoping my legs would be recovered from last week but I was feeling pretty hammered this morning. Pretty much just jogged around the hood for a couple miles. I did start to loosed up after a bit, hopefully I will recover quickly.

Ended up not running this morning and had to sneak a run in tonight befor bed.  Ran to the city park in the hood which is a half mile around.  Was wanting to get some quarter mile repeats in on the grass to ease the pounding on my legs.  Ended up doing quarter mile repeats with an equal amount of recovery in between.  All the repeats were either 1:23 or 1:24 so stayed pretty consistant.  I was planning on at least a few more but it was dark and I went down on a loose piece of sod on my last recovery jog and didn't want to injure anything so I called it good and jogged home.

It was pretty fun getting some faster turnover going with the legs.

Waited until around 8am to hit the JRP trail starting at the Iron Bridge.  Wanted to get some tempo miles in.  2 mile warm up - 8:44,8:49, then 5 mile tempo 6:52,6:48,6:51,6:50,6:47, 2 mile cool down 8:36,8:27.  AP 7:37

I was hoping to have a lot more pop in the legs after taking it easy this week.  The warm up and cool down almost hurt more than the faster miles.  I kept telling myself to relax on the tempo run, the mind is a crazy thing, once I got it in my head I was just going to do 5 miles faster that was all my body would let me do.  I also thing it is past time to buy some new shoes.  I just hope they last a few more weeks without causing any injuries, as I want them somewhat fresh for the race.

On a positive note my wife bought her (well me) a new gps watch, just got to figure it out

Went with the pup in the fields, for a bit then went with the family down to Willow Park to have a nice stroll down the JRP.  It was fun to watch the pup play in the river, she sure loves the water.

Went down to the JRP again, just took it easy this morning.  I was planning on 13 then ran into Mark Ellison on the way back so I ran about a mile with him, then let him go on the rest of his run.  AP 8:09.

I'm pretty sure through my internet study I have a sports hernia.  I hope I can just survive past Utah Valley and then probably just suck it up and go see a doctor.  I took it super easy this week and my body is still feeling pretty hammered.  I was hoping to run a long marathon pace run today, but got to listen to the old body.

This afternoon's run was one of the most brutal ones I have been on.  The wind was screaming from the north.  I wanted to fight the wind on the way out and not on the way back, that meant doing the Camp Williams Loop.  The first 3.5 miles were pure torture especially up the hill on Redwood to Camp Williams the headwind was brutal and would almost stop me in my tracks at times.  I forced myself not to stop and made it up the hill.

Just kept it easy in the narrows on the JRP and cruised along until I hit 2100 N. the climb back up to Redwood was also not fun and the wind was just beating me down.  Finally got back to my house and went in, I was feeling lightheaded for quite a while and felt totally wiped out even though I only averaged 8:20 per mile.

I am glad I got the run in and needed to get out today.  I probably just needed to eat something before I went out.  I should sleep well tonight.

I hate to make excused for the past couple days off.  Life just caught up, trying to paint the house, kid cracking his head open, work, weather, ect...

Got an early morning run on the JRP this morning.  Felt pretty good must be all the non-running I have been doing.  First 8 miles AP 7:40, last 8 7:27 pace.  AP for the entire run 7:33.  I met up with my wife when I was done and ran the last half mile of her 8 miler this morning.  I am proud of her!

My ache did not come into play really until the last 4-5 miles.  Got home and helped a good friend move all afternoon.  I almost passed out on his stairs trying to carry his washer up his stairs, I needed to eat bad.  Now I get to try to finish painting the house...

Wet, slog out there this morning.  Went into Orem and parked at Runner's Corner then ran down 800 south then up the canyon.  Went to South Fork then a mile up the the road until I hit 10 then turned back .  It was raining pretty steady until about mile 17.  Feet were soaked about a mile in.  I am glad I did not get any blisters.

Probably not the best idea to run 20 after being such a slacker lately.  My legs did not feel rested at all, and my body was pretty fatigued during the run. AP 8:30.  Did not push the pace at all and probably couldn't have even if I wanted to.

I may have to adjust my goals this year.  Just running pain free would be nice...

Couple laps around Liberty Park in the wood chips with my friend John from work. Legs felt pretty good, probably due to the soft surface, easy pace, and only 3 miles, but I will take it.

Decided to take advantage of the nice spring day and my office in Draper. Hit the Porter Rockwell trail for a mid-day run. Out and back, just rolled along and enjoyed being alive. AP 8:15

Went to the iron bridge this morning for a jaunt on the JRP. I know my body does not handle the faster speeds at all now, but I wanted to see how it did with marathon pace miles.

2 mile warm up around 8:00 pace, I felt good during the warm up so I decided to go ahead with the tempo run. I wanted the pace to be between 7:10-7:14. Locked in the pace and felt pretty comfortable for the run, I was planning on going 6 but felt good so I extended it another mile. 1 mile cool down. I averaged between 7:08-7:12 every mile so I was happy with that. AP for the run 7:24

I feel like I left a lot in the tank. I will have to see how I feel later, hopefully if I can just get these tempo runs in at goal marathon pace I can still possibly do well.

I am completely exhausted right now, stayed up late putting in floor last night, woke up early this morning, hit a 20 miler, then off to football, then aerate the lawn, then finish (almost) up the floors.  Whew,  I will sleep good tonight.

Went to the JRP this morning started at the Inlet Park then ran north.  Ran into Mark climbing up the hill to Camp Williams so I turned around and ran with him until Willow Park where he split off.  I was keeping it pretty relaxed, the first mile were right about 8:20 until I met up with Mark and he was cruising along right at or under 9 pace.  I tried to pick it back up after he cut out but my legs were pretty shot by then.  Glad to get the time on my feet, and a pretty nice morning for a run.  Saw all the folks running the Thanksgiving Half...

Met up at Corner Canyon for a nice trail run. Beautiful morning for a run. Legs were a bit tight before the run but they loosened up just fine once I started to run.   I really should make it up there a lot more as my office is about 5 minutes from the trails there.

I got to run with some blog all-stars and I was glad they took it easy on me this morning.

AM: Went for a jaunt around Liberty Park with John from work. He only had time for 2 laps. Easy pace in the cushy wood chips. I will try to find time to add some extra miles in later.
